Please note that Buteyko practitioners are NOT the same;
Training standards of Buteyko practitioners in Ireland vary widely. For example, Patrick McKeown trained at the Buteyko Clinic of Moscow and is qualified by the Late Professor Buteyko. He became a practitioner due to using the method to reverse his life long asthma. He has taught the method full time since 2002 and has authored a number of books including the best seller Asthma Free naturally.
However, most Buteyko practitioners in Ireland that are not affiliated to the Buteyko Breathing Clinic have attended a four day theory course in the UK which is presented by the Buteyko Association. The Buteyko Association course is presented by inexperienced practitioners and offers no practical training. As a result it is totally inadequate.
The Buteyko Method seems simple, but there are many nuances that only a well trained and experience practitioner will be aware of.
The Buteyko Association in the UK has been requested a number of times to improve their training programme to include practical observation of at least fifty patients being trained by a skilled practitioner. To date, they have made no changes. Practical training is in the best interests of patients and new practitioners.
The Buteykoclinic offers intensive training in Ireland, Russia and USA. Practitioner training is taught by highly experienced practitioners, is authorised by the Buteyko Clinic of Moscow and involves practical training of at least fifty patients. Accreditation is jointly provided by the Buteyko Clinic of Moscow.
The BIBH of UK and Australia also offer high quality training by experienced practitioner trainers.
