The books Close Your Mouth and Asthma Free Naturally were written by Asthma Care practitioner Patrick McKeown. Both books are self help manuals to enable any person implement the basics of this therapy. They also contain a helpful account of diet, correct sleeping, physical activity and other lifestyle guidelines necessary to make a good improvement. Both books make an excellent introduction for those attending our clinic.

The following is a brief background of Patrick McKeown the founder.

Patrick was diagnosed with asthma as a child, a condition that worsened as he grew older. When he experienced the impressive benefits of the Buteyko Breathing Clinic Method, Patrick decided to explore the possibility of training so that he could teach this beautiful and simple method to those with respiratory conditions. He trained at the Buteyko Clinic of Moscow under Dr Andrey Novozhilov and Luidmilla Buteyko. He is the only person in Ireland directly authorised and accredited by the Late Professor Buteyko to teach this method.

Patrick's training in Moscow has been complemented by his own research, by consulting with asthma specialists from different parts of the world, and by his experience of working with asthma, bronchitis, hay fever and emphysema patients from all parts of Ireland at clinics and workshops that he now conducts.
